(A Short Story) - Carmen's life and marriage to Kenneth was perfect...that is until she found out she had breast cancer and would have to have a mastectomy to save her life. Unable to deal with his wife's possible fate, Kenneth leaves her and flees to the West Coast, hoping to forget about her and start over.
Carmen, a day shift nurse, suffered for six months without her husband by her side, but now it's time to rediscover herself. She takes a much needed vacation to Virginia Beach for much needed relaxation. All is well until she discovers that her soon-to-be ex-husband is vacationing at the same beach.

I felt for Carmen. I admired her strength and her abilities to not only forgive, but to admit how hurt and disappointed she was. She had the fortitude to look at the edges and angles of her position and honestly question what the future might offer her without sounding pitiful.I think that I wanted to understand Kenneth's actions and position. I know that I thought better of him once he put his honesty on the table. And I was glad that he had the courage to keep stepping up.
I enjoyed this story.

Loved it!
Very good storyline; but I little quick. Completed the book very, very quickly. I love the story however.
Carmen was happily married to her husband Kenneth until she found out she had breast cancer. Kenneth was unable to cope with his wife's condition so he packed up his things and moved to California hoping to forget about his past. Now finished with her treatment Carmen decided to take a vacation to Virginia beach and is surprised to find Kenneth vacationing there too. Talk about a Vacation Interrupted?
This is a short story only consisting of 28 pages, but in those 28 pages you learn so much and really start to look at your life in a new perspective. Tina Martin not only talks about the shock of learning you have cancer, but the aftermath of your treatment. In this case Carmen had received a mastectomy. While reading this short story I learned a few things about breast cancer that I didn't know about before, so that was really great!
Kenneth and Carmen's relationship is hard. They had the perfect marriage before Carmen became sick, and after that things got rocky. I understand that Kenneth was scared about losing his wife, but he didn't think about how his sudden departure would make Carmen feel. Carmen is an incredibly strong woman. Not only was she going through the treatment for breast cancer, but she had to deal with the fact that her husband had left her.
Honestly, I wish this story was longer because I would have liked to see more of Kenneth and Carmen's relationship. I would recommend Vacation Interrupted to anyone looking for a quick read that is highly realistic. This story is targeted to a slightly older audience then what I'm used to, but younger people can easily relate to this story.
I loved Kenneth and Carmen’s story. It was a very touching read. I would definitely recommend this book to everyone who enjoy reading about someone getting a second chance at love. Thank you Tina please keep these wonderful stories coming.
This is a very tender and true to life short story. Vacation Interrupted by Tina Martin is also about marriage and hope. Carmen's marriage with Kenneth breaks up after she becomes sick with cancer. It is very hard for Carmen to forgive Kenneth. For one reason. He left her when she needed him the most. Although it is a short story, Tina Martin writes about what a woman might feel after having a mastectomy. While on vacation, many new issues will face Carmen on the journey of adjusting to life after chemotherapy and surgery. These hard situations hit her in the face as quickly as an incoming wave. Vacation Interrupted is handled gently and with the wisdom only had by a very strong women.
