Read Pleasures Of The Unknown twice today so far, once quickly because I am impatient and the second time devouring each page like my mind had not ate for years. So if your eyes came across here then I suggest you may need it as well in your life, feeding your mind about love, life, memories, fantasy and passion. I like the author, her work at times has gritty urban view of love and intimacy, and other times its a sweet demure southern belle. However don't let that scare you, her passion and feminine energy come through in waves of bliss, sometimes you are a participant in the secret erotic fantasies, other times you're a voyeur watching maybe even a little ashamed to be viewing such sexuality. But you can't stop yourself. Rest assured this is a very classy never dirty read, but your mind will do all the work and by the end maybe the pleasure will be all yours.
The beauty of poetry is best described as fluid motion depicted best on a page. However, when you add eroticism one senses and mind become heightened at another level. Gomez writes with such poise and intensity that leaves the mind desiring more verbal love. I found Pleasures of the Unknown to be a delicate yet enticing collection of erotic poems that will not only leave you breathless but wanting more. Gomez pacts a mean punch from beginning to end leaving the door wide open for round two. If you enjoy poetry and erotica at its best than you're in for a real treat.
TThis collection of poems clearly reflects the brilliance of the writer. I don't want to be a spoiler, so I will let you be the judge. Ssssshhhh...i already picked a few favorites. -) The best part of my experience while reading this collection was the fact that I could actually relate to some of it, while others would be so well crafted, their endings would give a beautiful finishing touch and still leave room for your imagination to run wild. Great read!!!
Pleasures of the Unknown was, sweet hot and tempting. Each page felt like the words were sensual being spoken in your ear. As a lover and writer of erotica, I have to say, Author Jamila Gomez really meant to stir people's senses, with this book and that she did. Kudos to you Author Jamila Gomez...this book is a great read and I'm definitely a happy reader. I would absolutely recommend it to others...Good stuff!!
I honestly didn't want to put the book down. Definitely will keep tour attention I love how you don't get lost wondering what exactly the author is talking about. Stimulates your mind giving you just enough to keep you in edge and not wanting the poem to end. ABSOLUTELY LOVED THIS BOOK AND WILL CONTINUE TO LOOK FOR MORE FROM THE AUTHOR
I felt the passion of the verses without cringing at the harshness or vulgar use of words. I loved the unique and creative style used in describing the most private or intimate parts of the body. I looked forward to the end not because I was bored but because of the impact the last few sentences had. They sum up the poem leaving me as if I had been gut punch, saying "dam, I like that"!!
I have told my nieces to buy it, they tend to like the same type of books, and this was honestly a good read. I could actually read this book with my future husband on a quiet sensual night at home.
I was blown away when I read this work. Jamila Gomez has a masterful skill when it comes to using words. She tackles topics and situations that people are challenged with through out their lives and makes you think in depth about them. My favorite piece in the book was the poem "For Now" Where it explains the thought process of a person who has obviously been hurt in the past by love and is cautious when dating someone new. I highly recommend this book. It is a great book to discuss in book clubs and groups. I can't wait to read more from this awesome writer!
